Tortilla wrap recipes are easy to make lunchbox recipes made with tortilla wraps, your choice of vegetables, various sauces, spices and herbs. This means if you’re a busy person or want to cook something quickly, always keep tortillas in your pantry so that you can make yourself a tortilla wrap. You can buy tortilla wraps in any local or mexican supermarket. It looks like a round shaped flatbread which is soft and light in texture.
However, if you prefer homemade food items over readymade ones, here is a recipe of Homemade Tortillas by Just a Taste blog and they say that you can keep it inside a sealable plastic bag at room temperature for upto one week. But I am a little lazy person so always buys readymade. 🙂
In this post, I am going to share with you, 3 different ways to make tortilla wraps, which are:
- Pizza Tortilla Wrap
- Egg and Cheese Tortilla Wrap
- Veggies Tortilla Wrap
1. Pizza Tortilla Wrap
For making Pizza Tortilla Wrap, take 2 tablespoons of tomato puree or tomato ketchup. Add 1/2 teaspoong of black pepper powder, a pinch of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of oregano, 1/4 teaspoon of dried basil and 1 teaspoon of tomato ketchup (only if you used tomato puree at the beginning) in a small bowl. Mix everything well. Take a tortilla wrap and cut it from center point to one corner. Apply tomato mixture all over it. Place 3 slices of cheese, 1/2 cup sliced capsicum and 1/2 cup sliced onions on it. Sprinkle some black pepper powder, oregano and salt all over it.
Now, take the left side of the cut and fold it towards the top, again fold it towards the right and then the bottom. It should be looking like a triangle. (Watch video recipe to get help regarding folding.)
Finallly, heat butter in a pan and cook tortilla wrap from both the sides. Pizza tortilla wrap recipe is ready.
2. Egg and Cheese Tortilla Wrap
Take 1 whole egg in a small bowl, add a pinch of black pepper powder and salt and whisk it for a minute or two. Heat butter in a pan and add this egg mixture into it. Cook till it’s half cooked. Place tortilla above egg mixture and cook for a minute. Flip tortilla on other side and place 2 slices of cheese or 1/2 cup grated cheese onto it. Add 1/4 cup of sliced onions above cheese. Drizzle some brown sauce and mayonnaise. If you don’t have brown sauce, you can use tomato ketchup as well.
Now, fold it like a roll in a pan. Either leave it as it is or again fold it from center. Wrap it any way you want. Cook thoroughly from both the sides and your egg and cheese tortilla wrap recipe is ready.
3. Veggies Tortilla Wrap
Take a tortilla wrap and make cut as in Pizza Tortilla wrap or watch video. Place 1 cheese slice at left and 1 cheese slice at right of the cut. On the top left, put 1/4 cup of sliced onions and on the top right, put 1/4 cup of sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle some salt and black pepper powder and drizzle burger sauce, tomato ketchup and mayonnaise.
Fold it same as Pizza tortilla wrap and cook on a pan from both the sides. Veggie Tortilla wrap recipe is ready.
- Please don’t fill too much filing inside the wraps.
- Cook tortillas on medium heat.
- If you want to keep it for a while, put it in a lunch box and consume within 24 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, but you can make homemade gluten free tortillas with gluten free flour. I doubt if its available in the market. But you can get wholeewheat tortillas.
If you are non-vegetarian, you can put pre-cooked boneless chicken pieces, chicken slices or any other thing which we can use in sandwiches. For vegetarians, lettuce, spinach, corn, avocado, etc can also be added.
Of course, apply nutella or jam on a tortilla, add diced apples, sliced grapes, avocado, banana or whatever fruit you like except those which has too much water as it can make tortilla soggy. Let me know how was it?
